Just imagine, Pellegrini was so utterly shit for us, he nearly cost us our Premier League place, a decent manager, European football, probably Rice leaving, what a useless scarecrow cunt.

"I think the scale of our under achievement last season was as great as the scale of our 'overachievement' this year."

Yep. People forget that before Fabianski got injured we were in 4th place, having got 11 points from our first 6 games, losing only to Man City. If that injury hadn't happened we'd probably have been easily top 10 again and maybe challenging for European places. Instead we got only 7 points from the 11 games he missed.

Then as soon as we get Fabianski back the manager is sacked and one with a completely different style and philosophy comes in and has to readjust the way the team plays. He fails miserably at that, getting only 8 points from the next 10 games. Luckily COVID came along and afforded him the time and opportunity to work more closely with the players and he managed to keep us up. Without that 10 week hiatus we'd have most probably been relegated and Moyes rightly sacked.

Just one win against Newcastle would have been enough, but hey ho,that gives us a target for next season. Top 4 I mean, not beating Newcastle.

AOI - No way did you want to keep Moyes, surely if you had you would have mentioned it before. .

Afternoon charley and all,
Who would have thought we would have a season like this absolutely amazing.
The icing on the cake will be finishing above spurs so it's a 3-0 from me.

"we had just brought back a manager lets be honest none of us wanted"

What you should have said is "most of us didn't want", not none of us.

I wanted him back, as I didn't want him to be let go in the first place. A few of us can recognise a good manager when we see one.

Most on here were wetting themselves when we got Pellegrini. Look how shit he turned out to be, just as some of us had predicted.

Irons, you are literally too thick to comprehend.

You keep telling yourself you earn a 6 figure salary, if it makes you happy.

I've not been an agent for over 5 fucking years. Idiot.

Block, you're an Estate Agent. Can't get any THICKER than that. A career for retards.

My job actually requires a brain, hence my six figure salary.

Now run off back to kindergarten, you soppy little cunt.

I can't agree that we have a great squad. We have a good first team but the squad is filled with average/past it/championship players like the following:

Randolph
Martin
Johnson
Diop
Masuaku
Fredericks
Coventry
Noble
Odubeko
Yarmolenko
Lanzini

and last but not least SAME GOALS AS ALISSON Benrahma.

Basically our whole 'reserve' squad.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Southampton - Official Match Thread FT 3-0
I think part of the problem is that we've had "good" squads in the past and flattered to deceive, struggled and ended up somewhere around 10th to 15th and ended up rolling out the old phrase "this is west ham".

Even this season, many were waiting for the wheels to fall off completely, because it's happened in the past.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Southampton - Official Match Thread FT 3-0
Block - you could arguably make a case for Arsenal & Spurs (first XI), maybe even Everton at a push - but we have a better squad than everyone else in the league by a distance. 10th should be minimum expectation every year.

again, none of that is intended to take away from what we've done, but we do have to shift the mindset away from 40 points being the first target if we want to achieve anything. Moyes has spoken well on this in the past

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Southampton - Official Match Thread FT 3-0
I think the EL has gained in credibility the last few years. Going out to that Russian mob is essentially what cost Mourinho his job at Spurs. it's a comp well worth being in, you only have to look at some of the other clubs in it. Then there's the extra revenue.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Southampton - Official Match Thread FT 3-0
Having this argument with my brother and best mate.

They keep saying "it's just 1 season" , I try to explain to them we were on the verge of being relegated last year, we had just brought back a manager lets be honest none of us wanted and the hatred against the board was getting stronger and stronger.

Absolutely no one ever expected us to perform like we have, we have massively punched above our weight.

I am fearful now for next season, if there's no money to spend with the extra games we've got to play, we could be back down in the doldrums again.

if it wasn't for the Europa League, they wouldn't have had mongface. Was getting bombed out after his shithouse loan spells at Orient, Wall, Norwich & leicester

Absolutely unreal.

Many other supporters are not quite getting our fans excitement. Some of my Spurs fans were a bit like 'It's only the Europa League'.

But its more than that. If you put what we have achieved into the context of our last few seasons then its almost unbelievable.

sounds massively ungrateful to Moyes and the players for their efforts, but i think the scale of our under achievement last season was as great as the scale of our 'overachievement' this year.
You think back to the start of last season, we'd just finished 9th, added a few players and everyone believed it was the strongest squad in our history. Its only got better since then, so i do wonder how surprising it actually is.

As i say, not intended to talk down what Moyes and the players have done at all

Just looked at the table, 1 win would have taken us into the champions league.

As would a draw with Chelsea.

A draw with Chelsea would've given Leicester 4th place with us 5th on GD, so still no CL.
We needed to beat Chelsea and hope those cunts from north London did us a favour against Leicester.
